A Team Assignment is a Packback Writing assignment where you and your teammates work together on one shared submission.

Your Team

Your instructor assigns students to teams. If you don't see a team listed for an assignment, or you think you've been placed in the wrong team, contact your instructor.

How to Submit a Team Originality Review

1. Log in to Packback and open your community

2. In the left sidebar, click Writing Assignments

3. Click on the Team Assignment your instructor assigned

4. On the assignment page, you can view the assignment description on the Overview tab and your team’s draft or submission on the Submission tab.

5. If you are uploading a file on behalf of your team, click the Start Assignment button. If you are viewing a draft or submission that someone on your team already started, click the Submission tab to access it.

6. After a file is uploaded, on the draft viewer screen, you can view your Originality Fingerprint and writing feedback. If your team wants to submit a revised draft, delete the file and start over. When your team is ready to submit a draft, click Submit.

7. After your draft is submitted, each team member can submit a comment to be shared with your instructor. Comments are not shared with other team members.

Note: Only one submission is made per team. Make sure your team has finalized the work before submitting.

Collaborating with your Team

During the current phase of Team Assignments, Packback doesn't have built-in real-time collaborative editing. Most teams draft and edit together in an external tool like Google Docs, then upload the final version to Packback when ready to submit.

For staying in touch with teammates, use whatever communication tools you already use — text, group chat, social media, etc.

Packback's writing feedback is available after you upload a file. Use it to strengthen your submission before submitting!

Leaving a Comment for your Instructor

You have the option to leave a private comment for your instructor, something only they can see. Your teammates will not be able to see your comment. This is a good place to share context about your contributions or your team's process, especially if your instructor has asked for individual reflections.

Your Grade

Your instructor will grade the team's single submission, and that grade will be applied to every team member. Your instructor may adjust individual grades if needed though. You will not be able to see other team members’ grades and they will not be able to see yours.

Frequently Asked Questions

What if I'm not assigned to a team?

Contact your instructor.

Can I see what my teammates are working on?

For Team Originality Reviews, you share a draft and submission space with your team on Packback, but you are not able to make edits directly in Packback. For drafting and editing together, most teams use an external tool like Google Docs.

Can my teammates see my private comment to my instructor?

No. Your comment is only visible to your instructor.

What if a team member isn't contributing?

Bring it up with your instructor early. Your instructor may use check-ins or reflections to track participation, and can adjust individual grades if contributions were significantly unequal.
