Any deep linked Packback assignments that were copied over from a prior LMS course will need to be deleted or updated in your new LMS course. The specific method will be dependent on your LMS. Find yours below and follow the steps!
Blackboard
In Blackboard, any deep linked Packback assignments that were copied from a prior LMS course to a new LMS course need to be deleted. After following the deletion steps below, new assignments will need to be added using the deep linking process.
- Navigate to a Packback assignment that was copied over from the prior LMS course.
- Click the dots on the right-hand side of the assignment card, and click “Delete.”
- Click “Delete” on the confirmation modal.
- Repeat the process for every copied deep linked Packback assignment.
Canvas
In Canvas, any deep linked assignments that were copied from a prior LMS course to a new LMS course need to be edited so they are properly linked to an assignment in a newly connected Packback community.
- Navigate to the assignment settings page in Canvas. There are two different ways to get there:
a. Click the three dots on the right side of an assignment, click "Edit," then click "More Options."
b. Click the assignment title, then click "Edit Assignment Settings" in the top-right corner of the page.
- Once on the assignment settings page, scroll down to the Submission Type field. Click “Find” next to the External Tool URL.
- Select Packback on the next screen.
- Follow the Packback instructions to link to an assignment in the connected community.
- If you are following these steps for the first time in this LMS course, you will be prompted to connect to a Packback community. Follow these instructions if you need additional support.
- Click “Return to LMS”
- Click “Select” to close the External Tool window.
- Scroll to the bottom of the assignment settings page and click “Save” or “Save & Publish”.
- Repeat the process for every copied deep linked Packback assignment.
D2L
In D2L, any deep linked Packback assignments that were copied from a prior LMS course to a new LMS course need to be deleted. After following the deletion steps below, new assignments will need to be added using the deep linking process.
- Navigate to a Packback assignment that was copied over from the prior LMS course.
- Click the dots on the right-hand side above the assignment, and click “Delete.”

Select the second option and click “Delete” on the confirmation modal.
- Repeat the process for every copied deep linked Packback assignment.
Moodle
In Moodle, any deep linked assignments that were copied from a prior LMS course to a new LMS course need to be edited so they are properly linked to an assignment in a newly connected Packback community.
- Navigate to a Packback assignment that was copied over from the prior LMS course. Open the assignment and click “Settings” at the top of the page under the assignment name.
- Click “Select content”
- Follow the Packback instructions to link to an assignment in the connected community.
- If you are following these steps for the first time in this LMS course, you will be prompted to connect to a Packback community. Follow these instructions if you need additional support.
- Click “Return to LMS”
- Scroll to the bottom of the assignment settings page and click “Save and return to course” or “Save and display”.
- Repeat the process for every copied deep linked Packback assignment.
Schoology
In Schoology, any deep linked Packback assignments that were copied from a prior LMS course to a new LMS course need to be deleted. After following the deletion steps below, new assignments will need to be added using the deep linking process.
- Navigate to a Packback assignment that was copied over from the prior LMS course.
- Click the settings gear on the right-hand side of the assignment card, and click “Delete.”
- Click “Delete” on the confirmation modal.
- Repeat the process for every copied deep linked Packback assignment.
