Overview
When a Canvas assignment has Packback Sendback enabled, your uploaded file is automatically analyzed for:
- Uniqueness (Potential Plagiarism): Checking against global databases and web sources. You can read more about the Uniqueness score here.
- AI Writing Detection: Identifying text likely generated by AI. You can read more about the AI Risk indicator here.
Submitting Your Assignment
- Go to the Assignment Submission Page: Begin as you would with any Canvas assignment submission.
- Agree to Terms: On your first submission, agree to Packback’s terms of service to proceed.
- View Packback Report: After submission, check your Submission Details page on Canvas to see your Packback Sendback report. Reports may take several minutes to appear.
Immediate Feedback
You’ll receive immediate feedback once the Packback Sendback report is generated. Here’s what to do next:
- Notification: A "Please review" alert will appear on your Submission Details page if your Uniqueness score is below 50% or there is a high AI Risk indicator.
- Multiple Attempts: If allowed by your instructor, use the feedback from the Sendback report to edit and resubmit your work before the deadline.
NOTE: The report may take several minutes to appear in Canvas. You may need to refresh your page.
Frequently Asked Questions
- Do I need to create a Packback account? No. Your access is handled automatically through Canvas LTI. You will never need to navigate to the main Packback website to use this feature.
- What if I do not accept Packback’s terms of service? Packback will not process your assignment until you agree to our Terms of Service. You can still upload your assignment file in Canvas, but you and your instructor will not be able to view a Packback Sendback report. If you initially decline and want to change your mind, you can click the “View Report” button in Canvas, which brings you to Packback, where you can accept our Terms of Service and we will then process your file.
