After you submit a Writing Assignment in Packback, your instructor is presented with two options regarding your submission:
- Accept your submission as final. This means that your instructor believes your work meets the required standards and is satisfactory as it is. In this case, no further action is needed from you! But if you have any questions about your grade, feel free to contact your instructor.
- Return it with feedback and an opportunity for revision. In this scenario, your instructor will provide constructive criticism and suggestions for improvement. This feedback is invaluable as it offers you a chance to refine your work, address any weaknesses, and enhance the overall quality of your writing.
Follow along with this help article to learn how best to navigate the revision process and earn the best score for your Packback writing assignment!
How will I know if my assignment is open for revision?
If your instructor allows a revision, Packback will notify you in three ways:
-
Email Notification
You’ll receive an email letting you know the assignment has been reopened for revision. Be sure to check your inbox regularly so you don’t miss important updates. The email will contain a message that the assignment is open for revision, your preliminary grade for that assignment, and a direct link to the evaluation. -
In-Platform Notification
In the platform, a red indicator by the bell icon at the top of the screen will alert you to new notifications. You will a see a notification with a message that the assignment is open for revision, your preliminary grade for that assignment, and a direct link to the evaluation. -
Assignment Tile
On the main Writing Assignment page, the assignment tile will show:
“Assignment is open for Revision”. You can also begin your revision from here by clicking the Start button.
How to Complete and Submit a Revision
- Click the link provided in the email or notification to open the evaluation. Review any feedback your instructor has shared.
- Scroll to the bottom of the evaluation and click Start My Revision. Your previous submission will carry over, so you can build on the work you’ve already done.
- While drafting your revision in Deep Dives, you can access earlier evaluations by:
- Clicking Your Resources in the top right corner of the drafting experience
- Selecting the evaluation you want to reference
- Clicking Your Draft at any time to return to your current work.
-
Submit Your Revision! Once you’ve made your changes and are satisfied with your work, click Submit to send it back to your instructor for a new evaluation and updated grade.
Please Note: You can also start your revision directly from the Assignment main page by clicking Start My Revision, but it is always best to review feedback before you begin writing.
What happens to my grade for the assignment?
In a single assignment, you can submit multiple times and receive various evaluations, each with its own score. Just keep in mind that your final grade will be based on the score from the latest evaluation.
What if I need more time to complete my revision?
If you wish to have more time to revise your work, contact your instructor. They can extend the due date if appropriate.
How Can I Keep Track of My Submissions and Revisions
To view all of your submissions and evaluations within an assignment:
- Go to the Writing Assignment
- Click the Submissions tab
- Here, you’ll find a table listing each submission and its evaluation. You can revisit any submission and its corresponding feedback at any time!
