Page headers are an important part of formal academic formatting. They can include page numbers and running headers (like your last name and paper title), and Packback Deep Dives makes it easy to add them correctly.
Creating a Page Header
- Open the Page Header Tool
- In the editor toolbar, go to Page Elements.
- Click on Page Header.
2. Fill Out the Page Header Form
- A pop-up will guide you through adding the correct page numbers and running header information.
- Depending on your paper’s style (MLA, APA, Chicago, etc.), Packback will indicate which elements are recommended.
3. Confirm Your Header
- Click Confirm to apply the header.
-
Note: Page headers do not appear in the text editor, but they are visible in:
- Document Preview
- .docx download
In the preview, page numbers may be represented with a hash mark (#). In the downloaded document, the page numbers will appear correctly.
Editing a Page Header
- To make changes, open the Page Header tool again.
- Update the information as needed.
- Changes will automatically appear in the document preview and .docx download.
Instructor Grading
- Instructors see page headers in Document Preview or in the .docx download when grading your essay.
- This ensures that your submission looks properly formatted to your instructor.
Adding a page header helps your essay meet professional formatting standards and makes it easier for instructors to follow along with your work.
