For K-12 Instructors: How to Set Your Packback Community Price to $0

If you are a K-12 teacher and your students are seeing a price to use Packback, this guide will help you set it to $0. Follow these steps to verify your role, confirm your school's agreement, and ensure your account details are correct, so your students can access Packback at no cost.

For AVID Excel and Electives Instructors

For all other Instructors

For AVID Instructors

As part of the Packback and AVID partnership, all AVID Elective and Excel teachers have access to Packback’s Instructional AI at no cost. When students join your Packback Community, they will see a price of $0. However, before this happens, there are a couple of key steps you’ll need to complete. After you finish those steps, there may be a delay of up to twelve hours for your students to get free access. Here’s what to know:

1. Verify Your Role in MyAVID

First, you'll need to be correctly listed as an AVID Elective or AVID Excel instructor in MyAVID. If your role is not accurately listed, the price of your community won't be updated to $0.

What to Do:

  • Check your role in MyAVID: Make sure you’re properly listed as an AVID teacher.
    • AVID Elective Teacher (grades 6-12)
    • AVID Excel Teacher (grades 7-8) 
  • Update your role if needed: If you’re not listed as an AVID instructor, reach out to your District Director to get your role corrected. To be verified, your AVID email must match your Packback email

2. Make Sure Your District Signs the Packback Consent Agreement

In addition to verifying your role, your school must sign Packback’s Data Privacy Agreement (DPA) before the price of your community can be set to $0. This agreement ensures your school consents to students creating Packback accounts and allows Packback to store student data.

Next Steps:

  1. Download the Consent Agreement: Packback Data Privacy Agreement.
  2. Send it to your IT department: Forward the agreement to your school’s IT department or administration for signature.
  3. Let Packback know: Once signed, share it with help@packback.co and Packback will upload the agreement within 24 hours.
  4. Price will update: Your community price will be updated to $0 within a day after the agreement is processed.

3. Ensure Your MyAVID Email Matches Your Packback Account

It’s important that the email address you use for MyAVID matches the email address linked to your Packback account. This is how we verify your eligibility for the AVID partnership.

What to Do:

  • Check your email in both systems: Make sure your email address in MyAVID is the same as the one you use for your Packback account.
  • Need to update your email?: If the emails don’t match, contact our support team at help@packback.co for assistance in updating your Packback account information.

Once These Steps Are Complete

Once both your AVID role is verified, your school’s consent agreement is signed, and your email addresses match, the price of your Packback community will be set to $0 after a delay of up to 12 hours. Once the price is set to $0, the alert on the platform will disappear.

For All Other Instructors

As part of your school or district’s contract with Packback, students should have access to Packback’s platform at no cost. However, if they’re seeing a price, there are a few key steps to take to ensure everything is set up correctly.

1) Verify Your Access to Packback

If your district or school has a contract with Packback, your students should be able to use it free of charge. Review communication from your district administrator or Packback to ensure you have access.

2) Reach out to Packback Support

If your school has purchased Packback for your class and your students are still seeing a price, reach out to Packback for support at help@packback.co.

3) Schedule a demo

If your school or district has not purchased Packback for your class, reach out to your administrator by customizing the e-mail template below to schedule a demo!
