In this article, you will find step-by-step instructions for registering your LTI tool, creating your LTI deployment, and creating a new link for an LTI 1.3 integration in D2L Brightspace.
Before beginning this process, please reach out to help@packback.co with the URL for your instance of D2L. They will then reply with the unique Keyset URL you will need for installation.
Part 1 of 3: Register LTI Advantage Tool
1. Click the gear icon in the top-left corner and select Manage Extensibility
2. Select the LTI Advantage tab and click the Register Tool button
3. When asked "How would you like to register your tool" choose Standard
4. Enter the following information:
a. Name: Packback
b. Domain: https://lms-api.packback.co
c. Redirect URLs: https://lms-api.packback.co/api/lti/launch
d. OpenId Connect Login URL: https://lms-api.packback.co/api/lti/login
e. Keyset URL: You will need to contact help@packback.co with your D2L URL to obtain this
f. Check the following fields under Extensions
+Assignment and Grade Services
+Deep Linking
+Names and Role Provisioning Services
g. Under Roles select "Send Institution Role"
5. Click Register
Copy all the information provided on the "Brightspace Registration Details" screen (Client ID, Issuer, etc). You will need this at a later step.
Part 2 of 3: Create LTI Advantage Deployment
1. Click the gear icon in the top-left corner and select External Learning Tools
2. Select the LTI Advantage tab and click the New Deployment button
3. Under Tools, select the LTI Advantage tool you registered in the previous step.
4. Enter the following information
Name: Packback
Extensions:
- Assignment and Grades Services
- Names and Roles Provisioning Services
Security Settings:
- Org Unit Information
- User Information
- First name
- Middle Name
- Last Name
- User ID
- Org Defind Id
- Link Information
- Title
- Description
- Classlist including users not known to this deployment (This is new!)
Configuration Settings:
- Open as External Resource (recommended but optional)
- Grades created by LTI will be included in Final Grade
- Auto Create Grade Items
5. Make the tool available to the appropriate org units
6. Click Save and Close
7. Copy the resulting Deployment ID. Send this, along with the "Brightspace Registration Details" you got in Part 1 Step 5, to help@packback.co and so they can complete the connection.
Part 3 of 3: Create New Link
1, Once help@packback.co has replied with confirmation of the completed integration, open the LTI Advantage Deployment created in Part 2.
2. Scroll to the bottom and click View Links
3. Click the New Link button
4. Enter the following information
- Name: Packback
- URL: https://lms-api.packback.co/api/lti/launch
- Type: Basic Launch
5. Click Save and Close
Packback can now be used in a course.
